I’m happy to share another meaningful milestone in my work. I am now represented by Ballard’s Fine Art Gallery in Sheridan, Wyoming, a gallery that has already played an important role in my recent exhibition history.

At the end of 2025, my pastel painting Elevated Atmosphere was included in the American Tonalist Society national exhibition, Shades of Gray 3, which was hosted at Ballard’s Fine Art Gallery.

Shades of Gray 3 and Elevated Atmosphere

The American Tonalist Society exhibition Shades of Gray 3 focused on subtlety, restraint, and atmosphere. Tonalism asks artists to say more with less, relying on value, temperature, and quiet transitions rather than high contrast or bold color statements.

My painting, Elevated Atmosphere, was created with that philosophy in mind. It is a piece about light suspended in air, about elevation and quiet, and about the feeling of standing in a place where sound seems to fall away. Seeing it included in a national Tonalist exhibition, and shown at Ballard’s Fine Art Gallery, was deeply affirming.

That exhibition also gave collectors the chance to see my work in person, properly framed and lit, alongside other artists who value mood and atmosphere over spectacle. Pastels are especially suited for that kind of work, since the medium allows for soft transitions and luminous surfaces that respond beautifully to gallery lighting.

Why This Representation Matters

Being represented by Ballard’s Fine Art Gallery means more than having work on the wall. It means aligning with a gallery that understands the kind of quiet work I make and the kind of collectors who are drawn to it.

Sheridan sits near the Bighorn Mountains, in a landscape defined by open skies, long views, and changing light. Those qualities show up again and again in my paintings. Whether I am painting rivers, valleys, or high elevations, the goal is always the same: to translate a lived experience of place into something that carries calm and presence into a home.

Ballard’s serves collectors who appreciate that approach. People who want art that feels grounded, intentional, and connected to real places.

Seeing Pastel Work in Person

Pastel paintings are difficult to fully experience online. The surface texture, the layering of pigment, and the way light interacts with the work all come alive when seen in person. That is one of the reasons gallery representation matters so much to me.

At Ballard’s Fine Art Gallery, collectors can spend time with the work. They can see how the color shifts as they move through the space. They can experience the atmosphere the painting carries, not just the image itself.
