Share your work and grow your voice
A fellow artist messaged me the other day:
I wondered if you would be willing to help me businesswise especially of how you got so popular with so many new people and students so quickly it seems.
It took me by surprise. I was just doing what I know to do, and I assumed many artists also know how to do… share my work, develop a teaching program, build a following and community, create videos that connect. But I realized many artists don’t know these things. They came more naturally to me because of my years of experience in the marketing and design industry, and as a preacher, but they may not come naturally to you.
So, I told this artist I would help, and that’s how Craft & Community was born. Let me tell you more about it because I want you to be part of it.

That’s completely normal. We’re bombarded with polished ads and marketing messages and we think we have to be polished and slick and loud and salesy. But you don’t have to be like that. You can build a following and share your work in genuineness. You can “market” in a way that fits with YOU.
I’m an introvert. But I have still been able to build a monetized YouTube channel with over 6,500 subscribers in about a year, and still growing. I have built a following of nearly 10,000 on social media. And I have a teaching program with 350+ free members, and over 60 paying students. And I only started sharing my work a couple years ago.
I did all of this while also working a full time job.
If I can do it, you can, too. I’m not saying it’s easy. It definitely takes work. But it’s work that is worthwhile and rewarding. You can build a community interested in your work, your teaching, you. And you can do it in a way that feels good and right for you.

We’re building our own community of artists who want to build an audience naturally, who want to be authentic and share their work and find students and collectors. We’re doing this together so we have support, feedback, and encouragement to keep going when it’s challenging.
It will take work, but I’ll be there to share insights from my own art marketing efforts, and knowledge I’ve gained from over 20 years of experience in marketing, design, and communication.
