Summer settles easily along the creek in Summer Shoals. Sunlit grasses crowd the banks while the water bends through the landscape, shifting between quiet reflections and the broken movement of shallow riffles. A small group of trees stands near the far bank, giving the eye a place to rest before the landscape rises into the soft, wooded hills beyond.

The painting explores the contrasts that make moving water so interesting: warm riverbed colors beneath cool reflections, smooth passages interrupted by flashes of whitewater, and bright summer greens set against deeper, quieter shadows. Loose marks follow the movement of the current without describing every ripple, capturing the feeling of a warm day spent beside a river that just keeps moving.
